Why Spritz?
I like to describe Spritz as 'what would happen if Hollywood Producer Jerry Bruckheimer (The Rock, Con Air) produced an episode of Eastenders.' I wanted to apply the ridiculous nature of Soap Opera's, Hollywood Blockbusters and character cliches into a very bland and dismal existence. In Wales. In pubs. In Launderettes. In Hospitals. In the heads of the idiotic dreamers.

What occurs is a world divorced of reality yet somehow reassuring and hopeful. It welds together our true existence with that which we watch on the TV or view in the cinema. It's a world somewhere between the TV and the sofa. Floating. Confused. Spritz is the story of everyman. Of everywoman. Of everyone. We all dream to dream the impossible dream.

Why Swansea?
Well, it's just like everywhere in the UK. Swindon. Epsom. Barnsley. Solihul. All the same. Sure, there are small differences but if we look at these places as a whole then their sum totals are all equal. I could place Spritz anywhere and it wouldn't change. By creating a suburb of the city it detaches itself from the attributes of that town and becomes a microcosm of it's own.

But seriously, Swansea has a certain personal significance to it. That's not to say that I like Swansea, or that I hate it, but that it just keeps popping up; like burnt toast.

Why Booze?
I've worked in many pubs and bars for many years and seen the devastation drinking can cause. I always thought that alcoholics need a poster child. Someone to have faith in and idolise.

What Charles Manson is to serial killers; Bob Flint is to drinkers.

I wanted him to represent everything that was wrong with excessive drinking. And smoking. But Bob isn't all bad. I wanted him to be so laboured with vices that the trial to succeed would be a far greater and heroic achievement.
