The Characters Of Spritz

Here are a list of the main characters that appear in Spritz with a brief biog and some personal plot outlines.

The ideas for the characters come from all areas of my life. Bob, Johnny and Andrew initially came from a image&text project that I produced at University which focused on cliches, style trends and stereotypes in pop/chart music.

Bob Flint
Bob is a detestably likeable alcoholic who dreams of owning his own bar. He undeniably states that it's purely to get intoxicated for free everyday and spends the best part of the story with blured vision. Bob is a dreamer. He dreams of a life where everything is good, fun and going his way. He dreams of a wife that loves him and children that dote on his every word. He's a modern day tragedy and make no mistake. The events of Spritz will bring Bob and his dreams closer together. And drag them further apart.

Johnny Davies
Johnny loves Take That. And Westlife. And Wham! Yet he simply isn't gay. Johnny believes that he has what it takes to be the next Gary Barlow. He really does. He's got the shoes. The hair. The clothes. He's working on the complexion. But something's missing...

Andrew Morgan
Andrew loves movies. Andrew hates being called Andy (except by his dad who lives in some other country working for poor people or something). Andrew idolises Steven Spielberg although he'd never admit it out loud. He also loves his mum, despite her adulterous ways, and he's never going to admit that out loud either.

Gwyneth Hughes
Gwyneth works for a phone sex line called Welsh, Wet and Willing. She scraped three GCSEs in English, PE and Sociology. She lives with her friend Eve (and her three kids) and has a daughter called Jessica. Gwyneth has no idea who or where the father is.

Maggie Flint
Having suffered Bob Flint for twenty-one years, Maggie Flint has finally decided to leave her booze fuelled husband. Maggie owns and runs her own 24 hour launderette services called In A Spin.

Foster Leggett
Failed Law student Foster and his brothers Heinz and Clarkson run the slightly ominous insurance company Leggett, Leggett and Leggett. These vampirish looking businessmen take an interest in their clients that runs far deeper than personal.

Dave Bentley Snr
Swansea Mafia Boss Dave Bentley Snr is a cool customer with half the city in his pocket. He would operate his business in better surroundings such as London or Leeds but his painful past is likely to catch up with him if he ever returns.

Dave 'Davey' Bentley Jnr
Davey follows his father around bothering the Welsh locals and providing nothing more than a fearful physical presence. Sometimes less is more.

Eve Edwards
Single mother of three, Eve works at the phone sex line Welsh, Wet and Willing with Gwyneth and Jenna. She dreams of a better life for her kids. She also spends her weekends visiting the fathers of her kids in various prisons around the UK.

Jenna Jones
Also works at Welsh, Wet and Willing in order to feed her kids. There is nothing more important to Jenna than her friends, her kids and her store cards (not specifically in that order).

Johnny's Gran
Approaching her late seventies, Johnny's Gran finds it difficult dealing with a ignorant and arrogant teenager. She has a deep love of daytime TV and celebrity magazines. Half choking to death on a chilli pepper is one life altering event that she'd rather forget.

PC Thorpe
A life of crime fighting with little success can take it's toll on some people. PC Thorpe has the appearance of a man that can handle anything. Appearances can be misleading.
